You know you’re not in the “true” South when it’s the middle of May and the high is 54° and the windchill feels like 48°. Regardless of the weather, we had a perfect weekend! On Saturday, G participated in Relay for Life. The event was a true testament to the spirit, courage, and strength of the millions of people touched by the disease. In addition to walking 7+hours, G was able to raise $1,000 for the cause! Thank you for supporting him with your prayers and donations.
On Saturday night, Julie and Bill invited us over for grilled chicken and hamburgers. Hendley and MR played on the floor, while Julie and I caught up on “grown-up talk”. It is truly a blessing to have my sister, brother-in-law, and sweet niece less than 2 miles away. I still can’t believe we both ended up in Charlottesville together!
After Saturday’s events, G and I looked forward to a relaxing Sunday. The cold, wet weather was the perfect excuse to stay indoors and stay in our pj’s! Always sweet and thoughtful, G made sure that my first Mother’s Day was special. Not only did he go out in the rain to get me Panera, but he also gave me three handmade cards (one from MR, one from Sadie, and one from himself), a bottle of my favorite perfume, and a DVD of MR’s baptism.
Looking back, I should have added a #6 to the list of things that I love about my mom. Here goes:
6) My mom taught me the importance of marrying a man who is smart, thoughtful, and caring.
Following my mom’s advice, I did just that! Thank you G for all that you do!
That first picture is so funny to me. Typical of happy little MR.
