Still playing catch up

CSC_0004-10-01 (16)

Believe it or not (most of you will), I am still not caught up on my  blog.  And since the abundance of rain and lack of coffee have hendered my creativity, I’m just going to jump right in…

Two weeks ago, we packed up and headed to Athens to cheer on the dawgs as they took on the LSU tigers. The game would become Georgia’s second loss. If it hadn’t have been for a great tailgate with friends and family and a wonderful home cooked meal at my parents on Sunday, I may have written the dawgs off for good. Yes, I know. I am a fair weather fan who prefers to watch a loss on tv rather than out in public. I’m working on it and hoping  that the dawgs can redeem themselves in the games to come.

I’m also working on grasping the fact that I will be 30 in a few days. Thanks to my sweet husband, I’ll have the luxury of working on that at the beach. We’ll be back on Sunday with more pictures and tales from our weekend.

I also want to wish a big happy birthday to my mom and sister! Our birthdays are two days apart from each other. Love you both and hope this birthday brings many, many blessings!

Playing catch up

Now that Im caught up on this,

and semi-decorated for the fall,

I can concentrate on my favorite little pumpkin, who has been very busy since my last post. Last Thursday started out with bible study at church, a visit to the pumpkin patch with Hendley and Boss, and a trip to the North Georgia fair money pit. Who knew that a trip to the fair could cost almost as much as a dinner for two at a fancy steakhouse? Thankfully, the trip was well worth the hurt that it put on our wallet…

Sweet Mary Reese turns 2!

sassy porch

Sweet Mary Reese, you certainly keep us laughing! Because you love to sing “Happy Birthday”, we have celebrated your birthday for over a week now.  We’ve had tea parties on the porch, played dress up, and enjoyed candle topped cookies, cupcakes, and sandwiches! Happy “official” birthday sweet girl, we love you and are so proud to be your parents!

Mary Reese’s Birthday Celebration

Last Saturday we celebrated Mary Reese’s  birthday. Her real birthday isn’t until September 26,  but we decided to do it a week early so that it wouldn’t interfere with the Georgia football schedule. Little did we know that our reasoning would be marked by a week of torrential downpours and record level flooding.  By Friday, it became apparent that our outside themed party would have to be moved indoors.

Despite the rain and cramped quarters, MR’s birthday was a special reminder of how fortunate we are to be surrounded by so many family members and friends. Thank you to everyone who braved the weather to help our special girl celebrate her second birthday!

A quick update with the promise of more to come!

Im a week behind in my blog updates. In that time, we celebrated two Georgia wins, the life of my great aunt Mannie who passed away last Friday, and sweet Mary Reese who turns two on September 26.

Things have been super busy around here! I’ll post birthday pictures later in the week, but for now, here are some pictures from last weekend. Our good friends Jay and Alina drove down from Columbia, SC to help cheer on the dawgs!

The last week

I’m quite certain that the good people in Waycross, Georgia are some of the best people around. In fact, their presence and constant flow of casseroles, meat trays, and sweets are what got us through the depths of the last two weeks.

It’s been a whirlwind, that’s for sure. MR and I said goodbye to Waycross last Sunday and headed back to Atlanta. G stayed behind to be with his mom. By mid-day Monday, it was obvious  that my nausea and upset stomach was not due to nerves, but rather a vicious, relentless stomach bug. For the next two days, I sat in bed, unable to eat or rest. Thankfully, mom and Julie were there to take on Mary Reese.  By Thursday, the stomach bug had hit Garrett, Hannah, Mary Reese, Hendley, Boss, and Julie.

Garrett returned late Thursday night with his mom. Danette has long been our “rock” so we were honored to have her lean on us for once. Our weekend was spent as a family. We cried. Laughed. And prayed.

Danette headed back to Waycross yesterday morning. We hugged her tight and prayed for God’s guidance. There is no denying that we have a long road ahead of us. Wiby’s presence will be missed. We ask that you continue to lift us up in prayer. These prayers and God’s promise are truly a comfort to us!
